How the scams work
One rule covers almost all of it: nothing legitimate ever needs your Discord password or a QR scan to give you Nitro.
Generators
A spinning progress bar, a fake code, then a “human verification” step that is an affiliate survey earning the operator money. The code never works because no code was ever created.
Fake login pages
A pixel-accurate copy of Discord’s login screen on a lookalike domain. You type your password, it is captured, and your account is used to spam the same scam to everyone you know. Check the domain, every time.
QR code hijacking
Discord’s QR login exists so you can sign in on a new device with your phone. Scanning a stranger’s QR code hands them a live session, no password needed, and two-factor authentication does not save you.
Malware disguised as a tool
“Nitro sniper” downloads from random links are frequently token stealers. They do exactly what they claim to hate: read your token and send it to someone else.
