How to redeem a Discord Nitro gift code
If you have a gift link, redeem it now rather than later. Codes are single use and claimed by whoever gets there first, so a link sitting unopened is a link somebody else can take.
Redeeming a gift, step by step
- Open the link. Discord opens and shows what the gift contains.
- Check which account you are on. The Nitro goes to whoever accepts, so switch first if you are on the wrong one.
- Click Accept. It applies immediately.
- Confirm. User Settings, then Nitro, shows the months on your account.
No code in a link? You can paste a bare code under User Settings, Gift Inventory, and redeem it there instead.
Months stack. If you already have Nitro, redeeming adds to the end of your current subscription rather than overwriting it, so there is no reason to wait.
When it does not work
"This gift has already been claimed"
Somebody redeemed it first. This is normal for any link posted publicly, where codes are typically gone within seconds. Nothing can be done to recover it.
"This gift link is invalid"
Either the code was typed incorrectly, or the gift was cancelled or refunded by the person who bought it.
It applied to the wrong account
Nitro goes to whichever account accepted it and cannot be transferred afterwards. Always check before clicking Accept.
Spotting a fake gift
A real Discord gift never asks you to log in on another site. If a "gift" opens a login page on any domain other than discord.com, it is phishing and the Nitro does not exist.
